International Technical Advisory Board (ITAB)
The International Technical Advisory Board is established to advise the company on the latest development and trend in biotechnology advances. ITAB together with the management has been actively assessing the industry and strategizing its business directions.
The members of ITAB have extensive technical experience and solid knowledge in the area of life sciences.
Professor Dr Mohd Azmi bin Mohd Lila
Head of the ITAB. He graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1988. He furthered his education at Cambridge University, United Kingdom, and was awarded a PhD in Microbiology in 1994 and subsequently a Master In Business Administration (¡§MBA¡¨) majoring in Marketing and Finance from University Putra Malaysia in 2000. Professor Dr Mohd Azmi is also trained in the area of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for the production of biopharmaceutical products. He has extensive experience in issues involving protection of intellectual property for new discoveries and processes in biotechnology.
Professor Yasuyuki Igarashi
Professor Yasuyuki Igarashi is currently the dean of Department of Biomembrane and Biofunctional Chemistry in Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hokkaido University of Japan. He is also the steering committee of ICBL. Professor Yasuyuki Igarashi has completed several published journal e.g. “Endogenously Produced Ganglioside GM3 Endows Etoposide and Doxorubicin Resistance by Up-regulating Bcl-2 Expression in 3LL Lewis Lung Carcinoma Cells”, “Mammalian longevity assurance homolog LASS6 and its related family members regulate synthesis of specific ceramides”, “Sphingosine 1-phosphate breakdown in platelets” and many more.
Professor Dr Yunbo Luo
Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Science from Southwestern Agriculture University, China, in 1982. He later pursued his doctorate degree in Biological Science from the University of Bath, United Kingdom, in 1987. In 1996, he was the guest professor in the Faculty of Agriculture in Cornell University, USA. In the subsequent year, he was a visiting fellow professor to the Faculty of Food Science in Purdue University. He is currently the dean and professor of the Faculty of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering at China Agricultural University, Beijing, China.
Professor Dr. Kim Kah Hwi
Professor Dr. Kim graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Bachelor of Pharmacology (Hons) in 1983. He later pursued a Masters of Pharmacology in Universiti Sains Malaysia and a doctorate in Neurophysiology in University of Gifu , Japan in 1986 and 1990, respectively. He has extensive experience in a the area of neurophysiology, natural products (focusing on anti-hypertension, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, wound and ulcer healing and anti-ulcerogenic agent) and cytotoxic effects of natural products (on cancer cell lines such as prostate cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer). Professor Dr. Kim is also currently involved in research and consultancy of natural products with medicinal values. He has written many articles as part of textbooks and journals. Apart from that, he is also active in his participation as a presenter in various conferences/seminars/workshops and courses held across the country. At present, he is attached with Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine of Universiti Malaya.
Professor Dr. Dustin Wu
Professor Dr. Dustin Wu is a qualified Chinese herb doctor from Taiwan . He received his doctorate in Oriental Medicine Research Advancement from American Global University in 2003. He is also a licensed practitioner in acupuncture in Taiwan , Spain and Korea . His area of professionalism are in oriental medicine treatment (acupuncture, moxibustion, diet, qikung, acupressure, scientific herb medicine, pulse diagnosis and fendshui), natural therapy (hand and foot massage, meridian beating, and eating right for one's bloodtype) and eye acupuncture. To-date, he has written 19 books focusing on traditional complementary medicine (TCM). He was also a TCM practitioner at the Center for Chinese and Culture Studies of Taiwan National Normal University.
Professor Dr. Noordin Mohamed Mustapha
Professor Dr. Noordin Mohamed Mustapha graduated from University Pertanian Malaysia with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He later pursued a Master of Science in University Pertanian Malaysia and a doctorate in Philosophy in Murdoch University in 1988 and 1992 respectively. He has extensive experience in the area of Nutritional (Nutraceuticals) and Environmental Pathology. Since July 2000, he is the Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology in University Pertanian Malaysia. He was the Honorary Professor to the School of Public Health, Lanzhou University in Lanzhou, PR China from December 2003 to December 2005. Professor Dr. Noordin Mohamed Mustapha was also the Adjunct Professor in School of Public Health, Lanzhou University in Lanzhou, PR China from July 2006 to July 2007. He was appointed as Head of Department in Department of Veterinary Pathology & Microbiology, University Pertanian Malaysia from November 2005 to November 2008.
Future plans
a)for the next 3 years – traditional herbal medicines
- mainly in fighting 10 main global diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, arthritis, hyperlipidemia, cirrhosis etc.
b) for the next 5 years – bio-pharmaceutical products
- develop or produce pharmaceutical products such as drugs and vaccines from natural herbs.
